Forrest Mahlen

After a slight mishap with petrol in a diesel engine, we made it to Estonia!

This is the ski venue where we raced a classic sprint and a classic 15kilomer race as part of the Scandinavian Cup.  These races, according to FIS, are at or just under World Cup level.  Which made it quite the experience and the toughest field I have ever competed in.

This is hotel room here in Estonia! Mike Vigers, Cole Morgan(pictured), and I have been living out of this for five days now.  I think its safe to say that I have a considerable amount of their gear and I’m sure that they have lots of mine.

This church is fully active with a service in session when we arrived. They did not allow photographs inside but it’s filled with exactly what a classical church would be expected too, and then a souvenir shop.  But it truly is a spectacular building.

Rebecca Rorabaugh climbing in a Caste! The castle is part of the old town in Tallin, Estonia and has evolved into part of the city with chops, churches, and federal building housed inside the walls.

The castle, no one else thought it was as awesome as I thought it was. But it was my first castle!

Headed to Turkey Tomorrow! Getting excited!

All righty then! This is a blog for Forrest Mahlen concerning my travels and those who wish to hear about them.
Currently I am on an 8 week trip traveling to Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Utah, and Vermont; to compete in the Scandinavian Cup, Junior World Championships, Junior Nationals, and US Spring series.
Several teammates from APU and myself departed Anchorage at midnight on Friday night February fourth.  We all had separate flights but all arrived in Riga, Latvia at 6pm Sunday night. We met up with several others and coaches and drove another 2 hours to a little city called Madonna.

Here are some photos that will describe Madonna:

We also had some races! The first was a skate sprint and the second a skate 30k. I only raced the sprint but  we had Americans in both.

It was a super fun couple days but now were off to race in Estonia! More photos when I can.
